In the first half of 2017, Number of Indians visiting United States sunk by 12.9 percent as per the date of US National Tavel and Tourism Office. A drop of 18.9 percent was noticed in the second quarter (April, May, June).

Experts say, Significant policy changes made by Indian Government in the past one year could be the reason. 'Reforms like Demonetisation and GST will affect the ability and intent of people to travel. We see it just as a short-term phenomenon. More direct flights between the two nations could improve the situation,' says Brand USA's CEO Chris Thompson.

As per Brand USA, Most Indians have been treating Donald Trump as a friend. Whereas, The issue could be demand for more visas than what US can process.

In 2016, 1.17 million travellers from India visited US and this helped US economy gain USD 13.6 million which was 14 percent more than that of previous year. US expects an additional 814,000 visitors (increase of 72 percent) from India by 2021, as compared to that of 2016 stats.
