Recently, Ramanand Sagar's popular TV serial Ramayan which is re-aired on Doordarshan has became the world's most-watched show with 7.7 crore viewership. The TV serial has set a new record globally and made the entire nation glued to Television.

While speaking about this serial, one of Ramanand Sagar's four sons, Prem Sagar, who was also part of the team that put Ramayan on-screen has shared many interesting things happened while airing the show.

At first, the BBC had decided to buy telecast rights of the Ramayan. Ramanand Sagar, Arvind Trivedi, Arun Govil, and Prem Sagar went to BBC's Liverpool studios for an interview before signing the contract.

However, Ramanand Sagar and Prem Sagar found that BBC was attempting to break the image of Shri Ram as they asked Arun Govil dressed like Shri Ram in full costume and crown in the BBC studios so they could film it. But they resisted it. Later, they were into a major telephone battle and they refused the sign the contract.

Prem Sagar said the foreign media is biased and they even portrayed Mahabharat with a lot of negativity.
