Cases of common cancer, including oral, cervical and breast cancer, diagnosed at state-run NCD clinics increased by nearly 324% between 2017 and 2018 Gujarat recorded the most number of cases of common cancer in 2018, followed by Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana & West Bengal
In 2018, out of 6.5 crore people who visited the hospital, 1.6 lakh people diagnosed with one of the common cancers, 39635 cases were detected in 2017.
According to the National Cancer Registry Programme of the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), more than 1300 Indians die every day due to cancer. Between 2012 and 2014, the mortality rate due to cancer increased by approximately 6%.
