Third Wave Scare: NITI Aayog holds next 100-125 days crucial

India has managed to fight the second wave of the deadly Covid pandemic, which is ringing the danger bells across the globe currently. But the Covid fear is not over yet.
Centre's think tank NITI Aayog has warned about the third wave of Covid citing that a few western countries are already facing the wrath of the virus.
Expressing concerns over the third wave, NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Paul had appealed to the people to be more cautious and careful. He said the coming 100-125 days are very crucial in the fight against the third wave.
Talking about the decline in cases after seeing the peaks of the second wave of novel Coronavirus, Dr. VK Paul opined that the slow down of the cases is a warning signal and we should be more careful.
We are nearing to achieve the target of giving 50 crore vaccines before July. We are working on it. 66 crore vaccine jabs were ordered. The Covid task force received the instructions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take all the measures and steps to prevent the third wave, VK Paul said.
Citing the experts advice, the NITI Aayog member said, ramping up the vaccination process helps in beating the virus and stressed on how people who received two doses of vaccine are safe from the virus.
VK Paul quoted the examples of Spain, Netherlands, Africa, Mayanmar, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia reporting a massive surge in the weekly Covid cases. The Netherlands reported a rise in weekly Covid cases by 300 percent, said the NITI Aayog member.
During his press briefing, Dr. VK Paul mentioned about the study carried out by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) which found out that, the members of the Police Department have avoided the risk caused by Covid by taking two doses of Vaccine
Looking at the Covid infections in India, the cumulative case count reached 3,10,64,908, after 38,079 new infections were detected in the country in the past 24 hours.
With 560 patients losing the battle with the respiratory disease, the total casualties caused by the pandemic has mounted to 4,13,091.
