Here's how China is dominating the social media. Though it does not allow Twitter in China, the communist country has planned to take Twitter by storm using its shady yet wide network of handles. This came to light when Twitter has taken down close to 1.75 Twitter handles run by China.
Among them are 25000 core handles that create and spread the pro-China misinformation, while the remaining 1.50 lakh work as 'amplifiers.' Using these fake accounts, China has been creating pro-China eco-chambers across the social media. Similar fake Twitter handles of Russia and Turkey have also been removed. But, these countries use these fake accounts to influence local population rather than the rest of the world. China is using these accounts to spread falsehoods and narratives opposing other countries. These accounts praised China and its efforts at curbing the pandemic. China is using these even to attack India on International fora and influence Indian minds.
