The century odd old Congress party is not as strong as it used to be earlier in the country. The party is losing its base and getting weaker and weaker with every election.
Given the weak situation of the Congress party, reports claimed that NCP supremo Sharad Pawar will be made the UPA chairperson so that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) can regain its strength.
Adding more significance to these media speculations, Congress and NCP's ally Shiv Sena has openly supported the move to appoint Sharad Pawar as the new chairperson for the UPA.
Shiv Sena leader and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut said they will be happy to support the idea to appoint Sharad Pawar as the UPA chairperson. It's the time for the opposition to come together and strengthen the alliance.
News Agency ANI quoted the Shiv Sena MP as saying, Sharad Pawar has the qualities to strengthen the alliance and lead the country. We will support the proposed idea.
On the other hand, the NCP has rubbished the media speculations of Sharad Pawar being appointed as the UPA chairperson by replacing serving chief Sonia Gandhi.
