This man wants Guinness record for fighting elections
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 March 2021 4:05 AM GMTThere is one very interesting political character in Tamil Nadu politics. He is Padmarajan. Never heard of this name in Tamil politics? Well! Many Tamil votes too haven't heard this name. Padmarajan has never won an election and never became even a ward councillor. Yet, he owns a very dubious record.
62-year-old Padmarajan has a unique record. He has contested elections in every election that has happened in Tamil Nadu. Due to his penchant for contesting elections, he is known as Terdal Mannan or election king. This time too, he is contesting elections from Mettur assembly constituency as an independent candidate. Padmarajan has contested all elections so far. He has contested in local cooperative body elections to the president of India elections. He had contested for the first time in 1988 to get a landline connection. Later, he became a habitual election contestant.
Now he is trying to contest in few more elections so that he gets into the Guinness book or records. He says he has contested elections from the constituencies from where the chief ministers too have contested. He says he mortgaged the gold ornaments of his wife to pay security deposits.
