This mayor doesn't even care district minister

Khammam's incumbent mayor Dr Papalal is one-of-a-kind politician. Though he belongs to the TRS, he has always kept a safe distance from the TRS leaders. He is known to keep even the minister from the district at arm's length.
As the first Mayor of the newly formed Khammam municipal corporation, Dr Papalal has always behaved like a rebel. He gained proximity to KCR after the latter was admitted to the hospital during his indefinite fast for Telangana state.
Since then, he touted his proximity to KCR and never cared for other leaders. He is also being accused of getting major allocations for the division he represents and starves other divisions of funds. Ignoring the requests of all other corporators, he got Rs 1.30 crore allocated for his own division.
Sources say that though minister from Khammam Ajay Puvvada tried to intervene, Papalal did not listen to him. Even the efforts of local MLA Balasani did not yield any fruit. Local TRS leaders are seeking an intervention from either KCR or KTR to rein in Papalal.
