This Much Hard Work Went Into Scrapping Article 370?
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Feb 2023 6:39 PM GMTThere is good relevance for Article 370 in the Indian Constitution. With this article which grants autonomous status, Jammu and Kashmir has been enjoying its own rule for the past 70 years. There is an opinion that says that we could not address Pakistan's aggression due to this. Kashmir, which is an integral part of India, had some special powers due to the article. Several criticisms were raised on this earlier.
It is known that RSS, BJP, and others severely opposed the article. Narendra Modi who became the Prime Minister for the second term aimed his arrow at this article. Though scrapping the article was not announced it was removed. It should be considered controversial, sensitive, and a key matter. However, Modi did not take a back step. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was brought into the scene in the background to do the job.
No one knows how much hard work Shah did and what he went through. Retired Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon shared the details on this now. In the book ‘Kitne Ghazi Aaye Kitne Ghazi Gaye' he listed all the details. The book will be released on Tuesday. He shared some sensational details in the book.
The Retired General said that Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Srinagar in June 2019 played a big role in scrapping Article 370. Amit Shah did a big homework on the sequences that would pop up after the Article would be scrapped.
"On June 26 2019 Amit Shah came to Srinagar. I received a call from his peshi at 2 AM to meet at 7 AM. Many sensitive issues came up for discussion during the meeting. We also discussed how Pakistan would respond if Article 370 was scrapped", Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon said.
The Home Minister has full clarity on the agenda of the meeting and the subject. He might have done good homework on this. My response was asked and I said this is a "path-breaking declaration" and someone has to create the history. That was the last meeting in Srinagar before scraping Article 270.
