This Young Politician Is Finishing Off Rivals Inside Party

There is one game that the lockdown is unable to curb. No amount of restrictions seem to have any effect on this game. This game is politics. Even in times of Corona, there is no respite from politics and the leaders are still busy playing the game of politics.

Take for instance former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Modi's blue-eyed boy Devendra Fadnavis. He seems to be quite busy playing politics, not with the political rivals in other parties, but with the rivals inside his own party. With things getting ready for the MLC elections, Devendra Fadnavis has gone into active mode. He wants to use this opportunity to ensure that all his rivals within the party are defeated. Using his clout with the BJP national leadership, he has denied tickets to four big names in the party. Former minister Vinod Tawde, Vidarbha strongman Chandrasekhar Bawankule, former ministers Eknath Khadse and Pankaja Munde, who were seeking party tickets for the MLC posts, were sidelined. Out of these four, only Pankaja Munde contested the elections and lost. The others were denied tickets and were assured that they would be made MLCs. But now, Devendra Fadnavis turned the tables on them and denied tickets to them. Instead four Fadnavis loyalists were given the tickets. One of them, Ranjit Mohite Patil, joined the BJP ahead of the assembly elections from the Congress.

Fadnavis is virtually eliminating all opposition to him using the MLC elections as a pretext. If thise leaders leave the party, he would become the sole leader with state-wide appeal in BJP. If they remain, they will have to acknowledge his supremacy. Both ways, he is the winner.
