Will TDP Be Wiped Out In East Godavari?

For years, East Godavari was synonymous with the TDP. The party ruled the roost in the delta district and this district gave some of the tallest leaders like Yanamala to the party. But, now things are different. The party is all but decimated in East Godavari. Except for some old warhorses like Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, most leaders were defeated lock stock and barrel. Even as the party is smarting under the defeat, here is the real shocker. The party leaders are leaving TDP in drones. First it was former MLA from Konaseema Pulaparthi Narayana Rao. He and his followers joined the BJP. Now, the latest shock for the party is that its candidate from Prattipadu Varupula Raja has announced that he is leaving the TDP.
If sources are to be believed, then even seniors like Jyothula Nehru and former MLA Thota Trimurthulu are all set to leave the party sooner than later. In fact, it was Thrimurtulu, who chaired the meeting of the Kapu leaders of the TDP organised to chalk out a future course of action especially in the wake of the serious defeat of the TDP.
If the same trend continues, sooner than later, the TDP would be bereft of all key leaders. Especially, the Kapu community seems to be getting completely alienated from the TDP. The East Godavari may soon see the complete decimation of the TDP.
