The big question after the much-touted Modi tour of Vizag is what did Jagan gain from this whistle-stop tour? Political observers feel that Jagan has killed many birds with one shot. He has ended up as the real winner of the whole show. The programme was a huge success as there was huge enthusiasm among the general public.
The first big victory was that Jagan has organized the programme in Vizag and has made Modi praise the Vizag city. Given the tussle between the YSRCP and the TDP over Vizag, this praise by Modi is being considered significant. This would be a major boost to Jagan's push for developing Vizag.
Secondly, Jagan has pointedly talked about the issues like the special status to the state, development of Vizag and also the Vizag railway zone. He has managed to position himself as the champion of the interests of the state. At the same time, the TDP did not even bother to raise any of these issues as it is yearning for an alliance with the BJP.
Thirdly, Jagan has succeeded in showing that BJP may not after all join the alliance with the TDP. Jagan-Modi on-stage chemistry has proved that the BJP still banks on Jagan. Thus, he has denied the possibility of BJP joining the TDP-led alliance. At the same time, Modi-Pawan talks too have sown seeds of confusion in the TDP ranks.
