The entertainment industry and politics are two different institutions. Government looks after the industry by addressing its issues and in turn, the government gets taxes from it. Probably for the first time, the government intervened in the industry issue which is a private matter. On the grounds of high ticket prices, the Andhra Pradesh government had earlier said the ticket prices would be reduced and even issued a GO reducing the ticket prices that had caused ripples in the industry.

Now that the Andhra Pradesh High Court has struck down the controversial GO 35, the state government is reportedly thinking of challenging the court's verdict by approaching the division bench. This has started a new debate on is it necessary to reduce the ticket fares.

What the theatre owners and distributors are saying is, what power does the government has in deciding the ticket fares as they should fix the price of the product they make. When the government cannot restrict the prices collected in other institutions like hospitals and others, why only the films, they say.

Even the political analysts and critics wonder why the government is so particular about bringing down the ticket fares by batting a blind eye towards other issues. What will the government achieve by implementing the Government order?

If we talk about the practicality of the GO implementation, it is going to be a tough task for the government to monitor the theatres in the state concerning the ticket prices. The system cannot focus entirely on the issue leaving out the rest. No one can say if the government can get a favorable verdict on the issue

On the other hand, the theatre owners and distributors who are on cloud nine with the court's verdict they got the other day might even approach the Supreme Court if the High Court's division bench rules out in favour of the government. It will be a major embarrassment for the government if the court once again quashes the GO.

The only option left for Jagan Sarkar in this issue is to leave the issue right now and let the industry function as usual and address the issues if the members of the industry seek any help.
