Whole World would remember Timothy Ray Brown as the first and only person to be cured of HIV/AIDS.
It was in 1995 when he was a student in Berlin, Timothy Ray Brown was diagnosed with the deadly virus. It eventually fetched him the name 'Berlin Man'.
Mr.Brown underwent a Hematopoietic Stem Cell transplantation after suffering for 12 Years. A Team of Germany Doctors performed two Stem Cell Transplants using a Homozygous Individual having two genetic copies. The genes (CCR5-delta 32) of the donor were HIV resistant and the mutation was transferred to Timothy Ray Brown. As per statistics, Such Mutation could be found in very less population.
Timothy Ray Brown was diagnosed with pneumonia and sepsis after undergoing chemotherapy. Finally, He was completely cured and a journal shared his story through '1 Am The Berlin Patient: A Personal Reflection'.
In 2012, Timothy Ray Brown promised to dedicate his life for AIDS research and findings its cure. He founded Cure for AIDS Coalition for the cause.
