Tirupati among 27 Smart Cities in 3rd Round

As many as 27 Cities across the country were selected for 3rd Round of Smart Cities project. Tirupati from Andhra Pradesh is one among the Cities included in the list. 'Congratulations to Andhra Pradesh, Tirupati is selected as a smart city in the 3rd round of competition... All the best...,' wrote Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.
About 5 Cities of Maharashtra, Four each from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Three from Uttar Pradesh, Two each from Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, One each from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Nagaland and Sikkim were selected for Smart Cities project in the 3rd Round. About Rs 66,883 crore will be invested for transforming these 27 Cities into Smart Cities. None of the cities from Telangana featured in the 3rd Round of Smart Cities.
Venkaiah Naidu told People 20 Smart Cities chosen in the First Batch would witness the change in the next one year.
