Tirupati TDP In A Quandary over MP bypolls
By: Tupaki Desk | 18 March 2021 5:00 AM GMTThe TDP in Tirupati is in a quandary. The recent civic and panchayat poll results have turned out to be huge dampers for the party, which is dying to unseat the YSRCP. The huge mandate in favour of the ruling YSRCP and the dismal show by the TDP has left them completely unnerved. Now, the party is said to be in a re-think mode on Tirupati Lok Sabha byelections.
The general opinion within the party is that given the massive pro-incumbency mandate, it is difficult for the TDP to make a dent and win the election. Post the civic body election results, most TDP leaders have gone silent. No statements are coming forth from the TDP leaders. With TDP faring poorly even in Chandrababu's home turf of Kuppam, there is a stunned silence in the party rank and file.
As for Chandrababu, his primary focus now is on the CID notices served on him. He is said to be busy preparing a counter strategy. As a result, he would not be able to focus on the Tirupati bypoll. Meanwhile, Panabaka Lakshmi, the TDP candidate, has gone silent too. She is now said to be unwilling to contest the election given the kind of YSRCP wave blowing in AP. With Jana Sena too out of the picture, there seems to be no stopping for the YSRCP.
Sources say that even Dasari Srinivasulu, the former IAS officer who has been touted as the BJP candidate, is said to be having second thoughts on contesting from Tirupati. With the TDP in a confusion, the bypoll is all set to become a cake walk for the YSRCP.
