August 26: Exactly 20 Years back..

Those who have been observing Andhra Pradesh politics for the last three decades are well aware of the term - August Crisis. Today August 26 is one of the most important day in TDP'S calendar. This is the day when NTR was dethroned from CM Chair by then revenue minister and present AP CM Chandrababu naidu.
After NTR became the Chief minister in 1994, he appointed Nara Chandrababu Naidu as the Revenue Minister. Soon after the formation of the government in response to the growing influence of NTR'S second wife Lakshmi Parvati on the political decisions of NTR, Naidu convinced a majority of the TDP MLAs to support him and he held hostage of MLAs in viceroy hotel to elect him as the chief minister.
Some of the TDP supporters say this as attempt of saving the party while others comment it as backstabbing of Babu. Even after ousting NTR; Chandrababu Naidu's TDP won the next election with a thumping majority by his development motive.
