Tanishq Receives Support From Top Advertising Bodies Over Baseless Criticism

Jewellery brand Tanishq which faced a severe backlash over its latest advertisement on interfaith love and later withdrew the controversial ad has received support from the top advertising bodies.
Top advertisement bodies have come forward to extend their support to the Tanishaq brand over the interfaith ad. The bodies have issued statements in which they said, the ad is not derogatory in manner.
The Advertising Club took to the Microblogging site Twitter and shared s statement to condemn the criticism and backlash received by Tanishq. The body condemned the attack and said such an irrelevant attack on creative expression is concerning.
The Indian chapter of the International Advertising Association(IAA) has also responded to the criticism and termed the events that forced the withdrawal of the ad as unfortunate.
The International Advertising Association(IAA) appealed to the concerned governments to initiate strict action against such action behavior that was termed 'intimidating' by the body.
Tanishq recently made an advertisement on interfaith marriage. In the 43-second long commercial, which features an interfaith baby shower did not go well with a section on social media users.
A particular section of social media found fault with the commercial after they felt the ad promoted love jihad. #bantanishq became a trend and the company pulled the commercial.
Tanishq issued a statement stating that they are pulling the commercial and felt sad for hurting the sentiments. "The idea behind the Ekavatam campaign is to celebrate the coming together of people from different walks of life, local communities and families during these challenging times and celebrate the beauty of oneness. This film has stimulated divergent and severe reactions, contrary to its very objective," Tanishq company in its statement said.
