Traffic Department Gives Its Best to Whitewash Ongole Car Case?

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's Ongole visit had caught itself in a big controversy before it was started. A family en route to the temple city Tirupati had a horrific experience as they were left in the middle of the road at midnight by the cops. Taking their vehicle for the CM's convoy allegedly, they left the family.

The issue ended up raising many eyebrows as many people have questioned why a common man has to face issues when the Chief Minister is on a tour. Reacting to the issue, the Chief Minister's Office had suspended two cops who took the vehicle from the family.

The action taken by the Andhra Pradesh CMO had raised doubt if the action was taken to cover up the whole issue. Adding fuel to this, the Transport Department had given a new definition to the story. According to the officer, the vehicle was stopped as it doesn't have the required documents.

Prakasham District Transport Officer Srikrishnaveni spoke to the media on the issue and alleged that the whole issue is the result of a communication gap. Giving more details, the vehicle was seized as it has no required fitness. With no fitness, the vehicle was seized and the same was informed to the vehicle owner, she said.

One wonders why the vehicle was seized when a challan can be issued for the vehicle for lack of fitness clearance (FC) certificate. The RTA officials get to see many vehicles without FC. But the officials won't seize them and asked the owners to get the FC.

Her comments only make everyone get a strong feeling that the Traffic Department is giving its best in covering up the issue and diverting the matter. Looks like the officer is using the loopholes in the RTA rules. Her comments say the same.

Cars will be seized on rare occasions. As the family was traveling with women and children, the RTA officials will issue a challan and ask them to pay the fine if it is a matter of FC certificate, but won't seize the vehicle. Maybe she forgot the fact that common people are also aware of the traffic rules.
