All the 1,050 Passengers of Mumbai-Kolhapur Express Train stranded near Badlapur due to the flooding on railway tracks following heavy downpour were rescued. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Western Naval Command rescued the stranded passengers in 19-coaches using boats and choppers.

As many as Nine Pregnant Women and a One-Month-Old Baby were among the stranded passengers.

The Mahalaxmi Express Train got stuck on Friday night due to the over-flowing of Ulhas River. Passengers who were stranded for 15 hours sought help using social media. After media began highlighting the issue, Maharashtra Government sought the services of Navy and NDRF for the rescue mission. The rise in water level on the tracks was the only concern of the authorities.

Two Choppers deployed for the rescue operation were withdrawn after few hours due to the challenging weather. Fortunately, All the passengers & railway staff were rescued in an operation that lasted for almost a day. A special train was arranged for all the passengers to take them to their destination.
