The alleged Target rating point(TRP) scam that took place in the financial capital Mumbai has hit a leading National Television after the Channel CEO was sent to jail for 14 days.

Going into details, a local court in Mumbai city issued orders to send Republic TV's Chief Executive Order(CEO) Vikas Khanchandani for 14 days in connection with the TRP scam.

The Mumbai police have arrested the Channel CEO on Sunday in connection with the TRP scam and produced him before a local court.

The cops alleged that to inflate the TRP ratings of the channel, the channel reportedly gave money to people to watch their TV channel.

It has been widely reported that to get more details and evidence in this case, the cops investigated some of the cable operators and found that a special technology was used to manipulate the TRP ratings.

Adding fuel to these media reports, back in October, the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) said that some of the channels were indulged in TRP rigging.

Based on this, the Mumbai Police started an investigation and alleged that Republic TV inflated the TRP ratings by illegal norms.

It has to be noted that, earlier Republic TV Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami was arrested by the Mumbai police. After a long waiting, the supreme court issued orders to release Arnab.

However, Arnab Goswami was arrested on the grounds of the 2018 abetment to suicide case. Interior Designer Anvay Naik in his suicide letter alleged that he is taking this extreme step as Arnab is not paying due that worth Rs 5.40 crore
