TRS Beats Other Political Parties In Terms Of Income In 2019-20

In the report, the Association of Democratic Rights (ADR) had analyzed as many as 42 political outfits. The ruling party in Telangana, Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) recorded the highest income compared to the other regional political outfits. For the year 2019-20, the party witnessed Rs 130.46 crore as income.
Five regional parties in the country are the major contributors to the income recorded by the parties between 2019-2020 which stood at Rs 877.95 crore. Besides TRS, Shiv Sena, YSRCP, TDP, and Odisha based The Biju Janata Dal.
The TRS received as much as 14.86 percent of the income received by all the political parties, while 83.76 percent of the party’s income was not spent by the party. The observations were made by ADR on the grounds of the IT Returns submitted by the parties for the Election Commission of India
On the other hand, the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh YSRCP witnessed an income worth Rs 92.73 crore, and Rs 37.83 went into the expenses. The opposition party in Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party(TDP) witnessed an income and expenses of Rs 91.53 and Rs 108.84 crore respectively.
Looking at the other richest parties in the country, Shiv Sena saw an income worth Rs 111.40 crore that translates to 12.69 percent of the total income of the political parties. Odisha-based Biju Janata Dal is at the fifth spot in terms of income with Rs 90.35 crore.
Compared to the previous year, the income of 23 regional parties for the year 2019-20 had increased while the income of 16 political outfits had decreased for the same period.
In the IT Returns, a few political parties like TDP, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK), BJD, Samajwadi Party, Janata Dal (Secular), and others said that they have spent more money than their income during the period. As a result, these political parties saw a deficit account.
