TRS Chooses Guruvaiah For Nagarjunasagar
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 March 2021 3:03 AM GMTIt is now appearing almost certain that the TRS will field a BC as its candidate for the Nagarjunasagar bypolls. By all indications, influential BC leader Kattaboyina Guravaiah Yadav will be the TRS candidate from Nagarjunasagar. An official announcement is expected in a couple of days.
KCR's internal surveys have shown that only a BC can help the TRS win the bypoll. Hence he had zeroed in on Nomula Bharat, who is the son of Nomula Narsimhaiha, whose death necessitated the byelection, and Guravaiah Yadav. Since Bharat is a non-local, Guravaiah has become the party's nominee.
Guravaiah has an influential pedigree. He is the son-in-law of former MLA Rammurthy Yadav. Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav is his close relative. Both have married women from the same family. He has given his ward in marriage to the ward of influential TDP leader and former MLA of Kavali, Beeda Mastan Rao. Thus he is well-connected in the community.
However, Guravaiah's choice may cause a heart-burn among the other ticket aspirants. Key leaders like Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Tera Chinnapa Reddy, Koti Reddy have lobbied hard for the party ticket. They have also done considerable ground work too. It remains to be seen how KCR will make them fall in line ahead of the all –important byelection.
