TRS dharna in Delhi without KCRs participation?

The ruling TRS is all set to create history on April 11, when the party would stage a protest in New Delhi. This will be for the first time that the TRS is staging a protest in New Delhi after the formation of the Telangana state. The last time the TRS staged a protest in Delhi was on April 29 and 30, 2013. But that was organised to demand a separate state.

This time around, the party is staging a protest on the issue of paddy procurement. The TRS wants the Central government to buy parboiled rice from Andhra Pradesh unlike the milled paddy which other states are supplying. The Central government has flatly refused to buy parboiled rice as there are already surplus stocks. As many as 350 TRS leaders would stage the dharna in New Delhi on April 11.

However, it is emerging that Chief Minister KCR is not going to participate in the dharna. He has just left Delhi to go back to Hyderabad after getting a tooth extracted and is unlikely to attend the protest. Who will lead the protest in the absence of KCR is a big question! It is also not clear who would attend the dharna.

TRS sources feel that the whole dharna would lose its sheen and news value if KCR skips the event. KCR's presence alone can bring some importance to the dharna, they argue. But, it is not clear if KCR would attend the protest. He could cite health reasons to stay away from the dharna programme, say sources.
