TRS, MIM Sweep MLC Elections 2019
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 March 2019 2:41 PM GMTTelangana Congress boycotted MLC Elections complaining about the horse-trading of its MLAs by the Ruling TRS. Although Congress fielded Guduru Narayana Reddy for one of the 5 MLC Seats, The election of TRS and MIM Candidates has become a formality with the boycott of the National Party. Neither TDP nor BJP have sufficient MLAs to field even a single MLC Candidate.
Polling began in the Assembly Committee Hall-1 at 9 am on Tuesday. 91 TRS MLAs and 7 MIM MLAs took part in the polling. Shashank Goyal is being appointed as Election Observer for MLC Polls. Counting of votes was started after polling ended at 4 pm.
Home Minister Mahmood Ali, Seri Subhash Reddy, Satyavati Rathod and Mallesam are elected as TRS MLCs. On behalf of MIM, Mirza Riyaz got elected with the support of the Ruling Party.
T-Congress failed to win even a single MLC inspite of winning 19 MLA Seats in 2018 Assembly Polls. There can't be a bigger setback than this for the national party.
