TRS leader and Rajya Sabha member Joginpally Santosh Kumar has launched a great initiative The Green India Challenge four years back. The initiative aims at improving the green cover in the state.

The initiative has achieved the big task of planting one million saplings in one hour on Sunday. These saplings were planted in Telangana's Adilabad district, which made a world record. Along with the volunteers, the locals and the TRS members played a big role in achieving the new record.

The area that was selected to plant the saplings was divided into parts and the volunteers, TRS activists, and the locals were deployed at the respective area. The highest number of saplings were planted in the degenerated forest area of Adilabad's Durganagar.

Two lakh saplings were planted in the Adilabad Rural area, followed by 1,80,000 and 1,20,000 saplings in the urban region and the R&B Road respectively.

The sapling planting procedure was recorded and sent to the Guinness Book World Records, the officials have certified the process and certified it in the Wonder Book of Records. The record has made its way to the International Wonder Book of Records.

Besides Joginipally Santosh Kumar, Ex-Minister for BC Welfare, Forest And Environment of Government of Telangana Jogu Ramanna, Telangana Minister of Environment and Science and Technology Allola Indra Kiran Reddy, and a few other leaders attended the event
