TRS to BRS: Name-change a flop strategy?
X
That Telangana Chief Minister KCR is a master strategist is well-known. But, has he succeeded in convincing his own party members about the change of name of his party? The party's name has recently been changed from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Bharata Rashtra Samithi. However, has the new name sunk in? Has it been absorbed in the mind mage of the rank and file of the party?

Not quite, says a recent survey. The survey was conducted by the reputed organization People's Pulse. According to the survey conducted from January 5 to 9 in 51 mandals from 17 districts of Telangana, at least 72 per cent of the party workers and leaders at all levels still refer to the party as TRS and not BRS. Only four percent of the party leaders and workers use the BRS.

The survey further says that the remaining 20 percent of the party workers and leaders first refer to the party as TRS and then correct themselves with a sheepish smile. They would then refer to it as the BRS. The survey says that the name change is yet to sink in and the party cadres still refer to it as the TRS. Interestingly, 3 percent of the respondents don't even bother to mention the party name at all.

The question is if the leaders and the loyal workers themselves have not adopted the new name, then what about the general voters? Will they understand the name change? The party sources however say that as long as the party symbol does not change, there should be no problem as far as the recognizability is concerned. Will their optimism be proved right? Let's wait and see.
