TRS Wins All Three Seats, Cong reduced to 10!
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 March 2018 6:10 PM GMTThe expected has happened in Rajya Sabha Polls. TRS bagged all the three Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana on Friday. While Banda Prakash Mudiraj received 33 votes, Joginapalli Santosh and Badugula Lingaiah got 32 votes each.
On the other hand, Congress Candidate P Balram Naik who is in race for Rajya Sabha seat managed to get the support only 10 MLAs. Main Opposition fielded it's candidate to spoil TRS plans to will all the three despite being aware of it's lack of adequate strength in Assembly.
In Telangana, Each Rajya Sabha Candidate need to obtain at least 30 first preference votes to get elected. 108 out of total 119 MLAs in Telangana Assembly exercised their right to vote in Rajya Sabha polls. TRS won 63 MLAs in 2014 Polls and two more in by-elections. In the past four years, It's strength has gone up to 90 with the defection of 12 TDP MLAs, 7 Congress MLAs, 3 YCP MLAs, 2 BSP MLAs and 1 CPI MLA. Even the 7 MIM MLAs supported the ruling party in the Rajya Sabha Polls.
5 BJP MLAs, 2 TDP MLs and 1 CPI MLA stayed away from voting Today. Even Revanth Reddy who defected to Congress didn't cast his vote. Two Congress MLAs Komatireddy and Sampath Kumar didn't vote due to their expulsion.
