Eye On GHMC Polls, TRS Woos Seemandhra Voters
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Nov 2020 12:40 PM GMTWith GHMC elections round the corner, Telangana Chief Minister KCR is focusing on the migrant population from the Seemandhra region. With Dubbak result jolting the party, KCR is determined to win the GHMC with not just maximum number of seats but also with huge margins.
The present GHMC has 99 TRS corporators and KCR now wants at least 120 corporators this time. He wants to make a clean sweep of the GHMC and wipe out the opposition, including the BJP. One of the biggest vote bank in Hyderabad city is the migrant population from Andhra Pradesh. There are at least six assembly constituencies where the Andhra population is in a huge majority. In addition, there are six other constituencies where they constitute a huge number that can decide the electoral outcome. Ignoring the Andhra migrants would be suicidal for any party. Hence, KCR wants to give at least one MLC seat to some leader from the Seemandhra region.
Also, he has already asked his son KTR to talk to various associations , caste groups and colony associations led by the migrants from AP and convince them to back the TRS. He is said to have asked the party machinery to reach out to these sections and woo them. The TRS is also mulling over having early elections because most of the migrant voters might go to their native places in Andhra Pradesh during the Sankranthi. KCR reportedly told his party workers to ensure that the migrants turn out in large number to vote for the TRS.
