Trump Offers Concessions To End Shutdown
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Jan 2019 9:44 AM GMTPresident Donald Trump came up with a deal to end the US Government shutdown. He, however, failed to get the acceptance of either Democrats or House Speaker.
As per the new proposal, Young Undocumented Migrants who were brought to the US as children, known as Dreamers, and those from few Central American & African Countries would receive protection. A 3-year extension of protection for Dreamers under DACA Program has been proposed. In addition, It's been assured that there will be no hasty measures to deport over 11 lakh illegal immigrants. This deal was proposed by Trump in exchange for $5.7 billion sought for constructing a wall on US-Mexico Border.
Democrats have rejected the proposal of Donald Trump without a second thought. They suggested Trump to focus on concrete measures to end the shutdown.
Trump's demand for wall between US and Mexico led to the shutdown of the US Government on December 22nd. 30 days has passed and it's been longest ever in US History. 8 lakh federal workers haven't received their monthly pay due to partial closure of departments and services. Trump proposed temporary concessions for dreamers to end the shutdown but that didn't work. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi turned down proposal even before US President took the podium.
