TS CM KCR Lambasts At Center over New Electricity Bill

Amid the pandemic outbreak, the Indian Ministry of Power (MoP) proposed a new Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 that focuses on the Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs) on hydro. The Ministery amended the Electricity Act of 2003 to put forth the new electricity bill.
Now, TRS Supremo, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao moved a resolution in the state Assembly to oppose the Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 introduced by the Centre reportedly.
Reportedly, the Assembly took the resolution to oppose the bill during the Monsoon Sessions of Parliament that was started on Monday.
Some media reports quoted CM KCR as saying: "The New Electricity Bill is very dangerous and it will push the farmers’ lives into danger. That’s the reason behind opposing the bill"
He went on to say that the very form of the new Electricity bill violates the farmers' interest and opined that the autonomy of the states on the power sector will be hindered by this.
CM KCR alleged that the Union government put forth the new bill so that the private people can get the most out of the power sector reportedly.
During the Chairman Elections of Rajya Sabha, Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) restrain itself from voting as a bid to oppose the Centre's move.
Now, all the eyes are on TRS MPs on how they raise their voice against the proposed new Electricity bill in the house during the sessions. Let's wait and see how the party fares in the house.
