'No Darshan' What's Wrong With TTD?
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 July 2018 7:12 AM GMTDenying darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy in Tirumala for a period of 9 days in August this year drew criticism. Citing Maha Samprokshana scheduled to happen from Aug 12th to 16th, Visit to Tirumala has been prevented from Aug 9th to 17th.
TTD Chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav defended the shocking move: 'Count of devotees used to around 30,000 per day in 2006. So, The visitors has been restricted to 20,000 per day during Maha Samprokshana. But now, Over 1 lakh devotees have darshan daily. If we allow 20,000 devotees per day, Rest of them have to suffer in the queue lines. This is why we decided not to allow darshan for 9 days'.
Since 1958, Maha Samprokshana has been conducted five times in Tirumala. Never been before darshan has been scrapped completely. TTD Board and State Government has ben facing criticism for stopping darshan for as many as 9 days.
Devotees feel TTD should have permitted at least limited darshans during Maha Samprokshana by scrapping VIP Break Period & not issuing Seva Tickets. If TTD Board publicized about limited darshans, Most of the Devotees would postpone their plans to visit Tirumala. Public could have appreciated had if TTD allowed darshan for at least those devotees who reach Tirumala by walk during this period. This isn't something impossible to implement but TTD Board mayn't have given much importance to the devotees this time.
