TTD Sculptors Prepare New Idols For Ramatheertham Temple

The independent Hindu temple trust Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) which has agreed to provide the new idols for installation at the Lord Ram temple at Ramateertham in Vizianagaram district sculptured the new idols.

The idols were sculptured by the sculptures at the TTD Stone Sculpture Production Center. The idols of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana were carved out of the Krishna Shila rock, as the vandalized idols were of the same rock.

According to the information, the TTD officials will hand over the new idols to the Endowments officials of the Vizianagaram district for the reconstruction of the Ramateertham temple.

The TTD swung into action to prepare the new idols in the place of the vandalised idols after the Endowments officials of the Vizianagaram district requested to help them in sculpturing the new idols.

The shocking incident of desecration of idols at the famous Ramateertham took place on the 28th of January, last year. The incident gained the attention of the national media too.

The Andhra Pradesh Endowments Department announced Rs 3 crores for the development and reconstruction work of the Lord Ram temple at Ramateertham.

The new idols will be placed at the temple as per the Agama tradition. The government is in talks with the experts and priests to finalize a date for the placement of the new idols.


Following the series of attacks on Hindu worship places, the Andhra Pradesh government has focused on increasing the safety at the worship places, CCTV facilities were arranged in most of the temples.
