As a bid to encourage eco-friendly products, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) took a good initiative to do away with the usage of plastic bags especially while packaging the laddu prasadams, popularly known as 'Srivari laddu prasadam

TTD decided to pack the prasadams in jute bags in the place of plastic bags. The new decision will come into effect in the holy shrine very soon. The decision was taken by the TTD unanimously.

Jute bags are good in many ways. Talking about the environment, the bags can be biodegradable ecologically without harming the environment. Compared to plastic bags, jute bags won't absorb ghee.

If kept in jute bags, the laddu prasadam will be fresh for a long time compared to that of carrying in the plastic bags. The jute bags are also very comfortable for the devotees to carry.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) Trust has also fixed the rates for the new jute bags. The price of big bags that can carry 25 laddus was fixed at Rs 55, while the bags that can carry 15 laddus and 10 laddus were fixed at Rs 35 and 30 respectively.
