Microblogging site Twitter has been involved in controversies in the country with the social media giant removing blue ticks from the official handles of famous personalities.

This time, Twitter landed in controversy by removing blue ticks from former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's personal Twitter handle.

However, it is said that, the blue ticks might have been revoked on the grounds of being inactive with no tweets coming from Thala Dhoni's Twitter account.

While Mahendra Singh Dhoni tweeted from his official handle back in January this year, no tweets were made from the account since then.

Hours after removing the blue ticks, Twitter restored the verified badge to Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Twitter account.

However, this did not go well with Dhoni's fans, who have been targeting the microblogging site in this regard despite the restoration of the blue ticks.

Earlier, Twitter had removed the verified badge of the likes of Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and few others.

After a few hours, ths actions were reversed. But this did not help the social media giant to stay out of controversies and face off with the union government over the new IT laws.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former skipper who took India to a lot of memorable wins across platforms during his captaincy, still remains the one of the successful captains to have led the team.

Dhoni is the only Indian skipper to lift three ICC trophies. Under his captaincy, India had won T20 World Cup, 50-over World Cup and Champions Trophy.

The former Indian skipper had established himself as one of the best finishers in the world. In several instances, he pushed India towards victory.

Dhoni showed his impact in the IPL Tournament too. The CSK team he leads has won three IPL Trophies, the second highest for any time followed by Mumbai Indians which has five trophies in its kitty.

As a big shock to his fans and cricket fans, Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from all forms of International cricket On 15 August 2020, However, he is continuing his journey in the IPL.
