April 28 Is Deadline For This CM
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 April 2020 4:12 PM GMTIf there is one CM who wants Corona to end very fast, then it is Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. Uddhav wants Corona to go before April 28. The reason? More than concern for public health, it is his concern for his own political health that is making him pray that may Corona end soon.
Uddhav has valid reasons to think so. He is not a member of any house of Maharashtra and he has to get elected to either council or to the assembly before April 28. Though he had tried to get elected to the Maharashtra legislative council from one of the two vacancies available, the elections have been postponed due to Corona lockdown. Now, the only way he could become an MLC is through the Governor's quota, which is meant for people with distinguished service to the country or people with known contribution in arts and literature. The Governor can appoint two MLCs. But Uddhav does not fall into any category as such. So, it is up to the Governor to appoint him or not. So, Uddhav's chief ministership hangs by a slender thread – Governor's whim. Otherwise, he may have to resign from CM's post.
Even otherwise, Uddhav's stock is currently very low. Maharashtra is one of the worst affected state due to Corona. The cases are rising by each passing day. His handling of the killing of two monks too has added to his woes. Let's see what happens on April 28!!
