Ugly Side Of Social Media: Influencer Arrested For Extortion!

We are living in a social media era and it is a powerful medium. Celebrities stay in touch with their fans and followers through social media. They share their work updates there. When the Covid outbreak resulted in the lockdown, celebrities used social media to promote the brands.
This is just one side of social media, there is an ugly side to it as well. Fraudsters earn money in fraudulent ways with the help of morphed pictures by threatening the victims. A few people are also extorting money from the victims. One such incident was reported.
As per the media reports, one Jasneet Kaur aka Rajbir Kaur is a social media influencer from Punjab. She hails from Mohali. The lady has a good number of followers on her social media accounts. Using her popularity she allegedly indulges in extorting money from men and an incident reached the notice of the Police.
A business was reportedly targeted by Jasneet Kaur. As he could not withstand the blackmailing. He moved the Police and a case was filed. After getting details into the case she was arrested.
Information says that the young lady goes into touch with men and sends them nude pictures. As the conversation goes by, she records it and starts blackmailing them for money. A businessman is the latest victim. Instead of getting panicked, he filed a complaint with the police and they arrested Jasneet Kaur alias Rajbir Kaur. A car and two mobile phones were also seized for further probe.
The businessman reportedly got a call from a gangster demanding money. So he approached the police. A few media reports said that the Influencer was earlier arrested in a similar case a few years back. Yet again, she was arrested in the new case.
It is said that Jasneet Kaur has big connections and also knows a few politicians. On the alleged grounds of having a connection in the case, Lucky Sandhu of Sahnewal was also booked for blackmail. He is from the Congress party reportedly. He is yet to be arrested and his arrest might help the probe to progress.
