Indian news anchor and editor-in-chief of Republic Media Network who is known for his outspoken nature during news debates has landed in yet another fresh controversy. The Republic Tv has also faced the wrath of the controversy.

The government-approved regulatory and competition authority for broadcasting in the United Kingdom Office of Communications, Ofcom said, a penalty of 20,000 pounds, which is 20 lakhs in Indian currency was imposed on Republic TV.

The regulatory body decided to impose a penalty on Republic TV on the grounds of using hate speech against Pakistanis during a special program that was aired in the month of September, last year.

Going into details, on the 6th of September last year, a special program was aired on Republic TV named Poochta hai Bharat(India questions) on the occasion of the Chandrayaan 2 space mission

It is said that the host of the show Arnab Goswami as well as the guests in the show used hate speech against Pakistanis which the regulatory body took a serious note of.

Reports claimed that, in its orders, Ofcom said, during the discussion of the show, one of the guests, referred to scientists, doctors, leaders, politicians, sportspersons, and children in Pakistan as terrorists.

However, Republic TV said, some misjudgments were made in the special program. Talking about the fine imposed, the channel said the fine threatened the ability to sustain the channel as it has been going through losses.
