Uncertain Future Worries GHMC Congress Leaders
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 Nov 2020 12:10 PM GMTUncertain political future is staring many Congress leaders in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. With most of the senior leaders like Danam Nagender joining TRS and several stalwarts passing way, the Congress party has completely lost its hold in the Congress
In the last GHMC elections, the Congress could get just 10.40 per cent votes. The number has come down further in 2018 elections. The Congress is only marginal player in the twin cities. Leaders like Kodanda Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao and Shravan Kumar are mere paper tigers. As a result, most Congress leaders at the division level have hit a dead end political career-wise. So, most leaders are now looking towards other parties.
The bigger problem for them is that even if they shift to the TRS, they would not get ticket to contest as the TRS has already decided to renominate all the sitting corporators.
As a result, a large number of the Congress leaders are now looking to join the BJP. Several have already sent feelers and many more have actually started discussions with the BJP. In any case, considerable number of Congress voters are likely to shift their vote to the BJP. Though some leaders have tried to make some noise over the flood relief issue, most leaders are in a wait and watch mode.
