UP Polls: Big Parties Combined got less votes than NOTA

Ever since the top election body in the country, the Election Commission of India(ECI) announced the election schedule for the poll bound states and union territories, all eyes were on the territories to know the election result. The elections were concluded recently and the result was out the other day. The result was a major win for the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).
The central governing party had won four out of the five states and cheaply lost Punjab. Out of the five states, the largest state Uttar Pradesh has been in the focus due to various reasons.
The saffron party had won Uttar Pradesh with a supermajority. This win is special for the party as Yogi Adiyanath became the first Chief Minister in the state to make it to the win for the second term in the past 35 years.
However, the other parties had a tough day in the polls. The big parties that were expected to create an impact and give a tough fight for the BJP have failed miserably. Forget about a tough fight, these parties could not even get big vote percentage than the None of the above(NOTA).
In the recent Uttar Pradesh election, NOTA received 0.69 percent vote share, while the likes of the Aam Aadmi Party, Janata Dal (United), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen(AIMIM), Nationalist Congress Party, and Shiv Sena got less percentage than NOTA.
Surprisingly, the vote share of these parties combined is less than the NOTA. The election win had shown two things: the BJP had still got dedicated voters and the image of BJP and Narendra Modi has not shrunk unlike what is being said in the exit polls.
While the BJP is happy that its image remained rock solid, BJP has no future in the coming days in Punjab. The Controversial agri bills are proving costly for the saffron party. Despite taking back the bills, the farmers and public in Punjab did not have a soft corner for the party which got reflected in the votes.
On the other hand, the grand old party Congress could not retain power and lost the polls cheaply. Its poor form continued and Delhi-based AAP which has been supporting farmers since the inception of Farm bills had managed to impress the voters.
