Uttarakhand Glacier Burst: PM Modi, CM Trivendra Singh Announces Ex-Gratia For Kin Of Deceased

The glacier fall triggered a heavy flood washing away hydroelectric stations and houses. The disaster resulted in 14 victims losing their lives and more than 170 people are still missing.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has responded to the disaster. He said, India stands with Uttrakhand and the nation is praying for everyone's safety. I am in touch with Union Home Minister and Uttrakhand CM, I am monitoring the situation, he said.
The Prime Minister's office took to microblogging site Twitter to share the news of the Prime Minister approving an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the kin of the deceased. The amount will be released from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Victims, who were seriously injured will be receiving Rs. 50,000.
"PM @narendramodi has approved an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the tragic avalanche caused by a Glacier breach in Chamoli, Uttrakhand. Rs. 50,000 would be given to those seriously injured," PMO's tweet reads.
The Uttarakhand government has called the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel for the rescue operations. The rescue operations are underway.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that his team is involved in the rescue operations and said a tool-free number has been set up for this purpose. He also urged people to not share fake and false news about the disaster on soil media. The Chief Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the kin of the deceased.
