A week after quitting Rajya Sabha membership, Navjot Singh Sidhu Today disclosed the reasons behind his decision. 'BJP Leadership asked Me to stay away from Punjab. How can I forget my roots? I can understand if its the first time. But, this is for the fourth time such a thing is happening. Its really tough,' he told.
The Former Cricketer says BJP Leadership relied on him when its facing tough situation but now asking him not to look at Punjab. 'Have I done anything wrong? At least, Tell me what crime I had committed! Should I stay away just to safeguard personal interests of few Individuals. For Me, No party is bigger than Punjab,' he declares.
Sidhu reminds he was the only winner for BJP in North India. He claims to have contested and won from Amritsar in 2014 Lok Sabha after receiving the phone call from Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He rued, Modi wave has sanked not just the Opposition but Sidhu as well.
BJP Leaders, however, condemn Sidhu's version and maintain his name was included in State Core Group only to use his services in Punjab Assembly Polls.
In 2014 Polls, Sidhu was asked to sacrifice Amritsar Lok Sabha seat for Arun Jaitley. To compensate the loss, He was recently nominated to Rajya Sabha.
