Is it so easy to have Rs 1 crore?: Venkaiah
X
In an indirect reference to the row over 'Padmavati', Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday stated that offering violent threats and announcing rewards for physical harm aren't acceptable in a democracy. He found fault with certain religious groups undermining the rule of law in the country.

While attending a literary festival in New Delhi, Venkaiah Naidu opined there is now a new problem over few films citing protests in the name of hurting the sentiments of people, religion and community. He adds, 'Some times the Protesters go overboard and announce rewards amounting to crores. I doubt whether these people have so much money. Everyone is coming up with an Rs 1 crore offer. Is it so easy to have Rs 1 crore?'

Venkaiah Naidu said everyone have the right to protest in a democratic manner and lodge a complaint with appropriate authorities, but physically obstructing & giving violent threats is unacceptable. 'Neither you can take law into your hands nor hurt others sentiments,' he told.

The Vice President feels it's wrong to link religion (way of worship) and culture (way of life).

While responding on the controversy over 'Padmavati', BJP Senior Leader LK Advani warned Centre the problem it gonna encounter in future if appropriate action isn't taken at the right time. He feels few more films might be troubled in a similar manner if proper action wasn't taken by the Government.
