Defeat In AP Made Venkaiah Reach Delhi

Though he wasn't interested in Constitutional Post, M Venkaiah Naidu couldn't turn down the order from BJP Leadership to be Vice President. 'I had my own doubts whether I could adjust or not...It's been already one year. I used to go wherever I want, meet whomever I wished to and speak without mincing words, that's my strength. I have to restrain myself from doing certain things after becoming Vice President,' he commented.
Venkaiah Naidu recalled how he managed to win contesting from Udayagiri Assembly Constituency even when there was NTR hawa in AP. He thanked the people of Udayagiri for showing so much faith in him.
At the same time, Venkaiah Naidu pointed out his defeat in Atmakur in the next elections prompted him to focus on national politics. He added, 'Still, I thank the people of Atmakur Constituency. Why because, I would have remained in AP had if I didn't face defeat. Thereafter, I had gone to Delhi and got an opportunity to contribute in various key decisions'.
Venkaiah Naidu claimed to have got very emotional after the bifurcation of the AP and coped with sleepless nights for 4 days. He informed about praying to God to take the life of Vajpayee as early as possible as he was pained to see such a great leader suffer a lot on hospital bed.
