Kannada star Upendra enjoys a decent fan base in Andhra and Tamilnadu. A section of people in both these sates would never miss watching any of his films even though most of them couldn't grasp the actual essence of his scripts. Upendra will be seen in a variety role in his upcoming Kannada film Basavanna. He tonsured his head and will be seen in a completely new getup in the movie. This film will be dubbed in Telugu and Tamil soon.
The new look of Upendra has stirred a controversy now. Basavanna community has raised objections against the new look of Upendra stating it is hurting their sentiments. They have been issuing warning that film's release would be stopped if the film shows them in a bad light.
