The world knows Ratan Tata as a former Chairman of prestigious Tata Groups. The torchbearer of the Tata Family Jamsetji Tata, who started the Jamshedpur city in Jharkhand was the richest donor as his donations had started in the early 18th century itself. The same tradition has been followed by the Tata sons to date and the major share of the earnings goes to charities.
Ratan Tata is 84 now(Dec 28 his birthday) and one wonders why he had to stay bachelor. The picture of him in his younger days often sets the internet on fire and it is a surprise that he chose to stay single. But there is an interesting story behind this.
The story goes back to the 1960s when he is believed to have fallen head over heels with a local American girl. The duo liked each other so much that they decided to tie the knot and take the relationship to the next level. Sadly, fate had other plans.
They had decided to get married and when they were close to getting married, Ratan Tata had to fly to India to see his grandmother. The girl he loved was supposed to accompany him but did not due to the Indo-China war. It took a longer period for the issues to settle down between the two nations.
Later, the girl Ratan Tata loved could not come to India and married a US citizen and settled there. If things would have worked well, Ratan Tata would have married the girl he loved and would have had a family on his own.
