Victory for employees as AP developments begins talks with them

In a major victory for the government employees, contract and outsourcing employees, the government of Andhra Pradesh has begun talks with them over the delay in the payment of salaries. On Tuesday, the government responded to the ultimatum given by the employees and called them for talks. Chief secretary Sameer Sharma and government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy met employees union leaders Bandi Srinivasa Rao, Bopparaju Venkateswaru and others.
The employees have for long been demanding that their salaries be paid on time. They were unhappy with the inordinate delay in the payment of salaries. They threatened to launch an agitation on this issue. It was after this threat that the government decided to hold talks with their employees. The CMO officials have sent an invitation to the employees union leaders to hold talks.
The AP Government employees have demanded that the government announce the PRC and give all arrears before the festival. They told the government that the government employees were waiting for the PRC announcement for the past 30 months. Yet the government has done nothing to address the demands of the government employees, the leaders pointed out. They reportedly demanded salary payment on the first date of every month, implementation of PRC by Dasara, scrapping of the contributory pension scheme, regularisation of the contract employees and hike in the salaries of the outsourcing employees.
Earlier, the Employees Joint Action Committee chairperson Bandi Srinivas Rao said that the amount earmarked for payment of salaries was being used to purchase dog biscuits of the top officials.
