Can't Intervene:TN Governor on Trust Vote
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 Feb 2017 12:10 PM GMTMajority of the Tamilians sought the intervention of Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao upon witnessing the scenes in Assembly on the day trust vote was faced by Chief Minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami. O Panneerselvam's Camp and Opposition Parties appealed Governor to nullify the vote of confidence since the motion was adopted against the norms.
However, Vidyasagar Rao decided not to interfere in the proceedings of the Assembly as Speaker has got all the powers to run the House. Instead, He is of the view that those individuals or parties who oppose the Trust Vote can move the courts.
122 MLAs in Sasikala Camp voted in favour of Palaniswami during the vote of confidence. Legislators of Main Opposition DMK were evicted from the House following ruckus over secret ballot. Although Sasikala's Camp have the majority right now, Mid-Term Polls can't be ruled out completely.
