Vijayendra Prasad's RSS connections helped him get RS seat?
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 July 2022 4:32 AM GMTSenior film writer and Rajamouli's father Vijayendra Prasad's nomination through presidential quota to Rajya Sabha has surprised many. The other three nominated persons such as Veerendra Heggade, PT Usha and Illaya Raja are hugely popular, Vijayendra Prasad is not so well-known. Vijayendra Prasad does not have any other profile except being a film story writer.
But insiders say that Vijayendra Prasad has been in close touch with the RSS and the BJP biggies for quite some time. For the past several years, key RSS leaders have been meeting him on a regular basis. He is also said to have hosted several top RSS leaders at his residence. All these have worked to his advantage.
RSS sources also reveal that Vijayendra Prasada is currently writing the script of a film on RSS founder Dr Hedgewar. He has been doing extensive research on Dr Hedgewar and has even gone to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur to meet RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. All these must have weighed heavily in his favour, say sources.
Interestingly, Vijayendra's son Rajamouli has been a staunch supporter of the Lok Satta. During 2009 elections, he indirectly campaigned for the Lok Satta. However, post-2014, he was rather forcibly drafted by the then CM Chandrababu Naidu to prepare models for the AP capital city at Amaravati.
