Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) nominated Indian Test Skipper Virat Kohli and his teammate Ajinkya Rahane for Rajiv Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award respectively.

In the year 2013, Kohli was honoured with Arjuna Award for his services to the country.

While Rajiv Khel Ratna carries a citation and prize money of Rs 7.5 lakh, Arjuna Award carries a citation and prize money of Rs 5 lakh.

Kohli currently holds the Orange Cap for scoring most number of runs by any cricketer in the ongoing IPL9. He scored over 400 runs in 8 matches. This include a Century and 5 Fifties. Inspite of his heroics, RCB was unable to win matches because of the poor bowling standards. After being at the bottom of the table by losing 6 out of 8 matches, The Bengaluru franchise has to win rest of the six matches to qualify for the knockouts.
